Today started with hail and more hail and sun, then more really cold hail, during which time I sat at my computer, and watched the ice hit the window as I investigated the blogosphere.
Then off to Long Days Journey into Night final dress rehearsal at the Court Theatre at 1pm. Yvonne Martin was the actress I'd want to be, playing this part. She really inhabited the role, and the (Boston?) accent sounded completely comfortable. No sign of any "acting", or "mugging". I discovered later that she played the part 18 years ago, which may explain why she plays it so naturally.
Then home for dinner, then out to Play-group improv workshop where I met 2 new improvisers Roger and Adam. It was great fun playing with them and Theresa.
Then to back to back improv shows by the Court Jesters, The Early Early Late Show and Scared Scriptless. Different shows, similar styles.
The shows have become more relaxed, less tough and frenetic than they used to be - much better on average. This I attribute to the fact that the players are playing together more regularly (with TEELS on 4 times a week), and are much more relaxed. I know that as a company the Short and Girlies came on heaps when we were playing 4 shows a week at Oval House, and I can see the same effect with the Jesters.
For the first time I volunteered to take the endowment game "victim" out of the room. Dan Pengelly proved to be a really nice person, and also a chef. We talked about food, the yoga center I'm off to, and my recipe blog foodlark. He is going to share his brownie recipe, and I have posted my easy chocolate cake recipe on my foodlark blog. Check it out.
Home to update and upload...tomorrow may be a theatre-free day!
